The SC100 can work in a data logger to sensor mode, or data logger to computer mode. When used between a data logger and a computer, the SC100 allows one of our older data loggers (CR10, CR10X, 21X, or CR23X) to send Burst data to a computer. The SC100 typically receives Burst data from the data logger at 78.6 kbaud, buffers it, then retransmits to the computer at 38.4 kbaud.
The SC100 can also filter and buffer data between a serial sensor and a CR10, CR10X, or 21X datalogger.

The SC100 can also filter and buffer data between a serial sensor and a CR10, CR10X, or 21X datalogger. It's used in applications where a sensor outputs serial ASCII data unconditionally or randomly. To read data sent from the SC100, the data logger uses Instruction 15 and control ports. The SC100 buffers up to 90 bytes of serial data received at 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, and 38400 bps then transmits the buffered data to the data logger at 1200 bps. The data or commands can be transmitted from the data logger to the sensor when required.

The SC100 has signal and power isolation and is powered by the data logger's power supply.
A socket (female) 9-pin D-style connector connects to an RS-232 device, which can be a computer or a sensor. An additional customer-supplied cable, typically a 9-pin to 9-pin or 9-pin to 25-pin depending on the sensor or computer involved, is required for this purpose. The SC100 is jumper configurable to DTE or DCE.
The SC100 is used with mixed array data loggers only. When used as a measurement and control peripheral, Data logger Instruction 15 is required. Instruction 15 is standard for our CR10X and CR23X dataloggers; CR10s and 21Xs need a Library Special PROM.
