Detailed Description

The RF310M functions as the communication interface between a mixed-array data logger and an RF310, RF312, or RF313 radio. It's typically powered with the 5 Vdc provided by the data logger's CS I/O port. When the modem is at a non-data-logger repeater site, a PS100 Power Supply fitted with an A100 adapter is used to power the RF310M. Each RF310M contains dip switches that allow the user to address the modem with a number between 0 and 255.

Additional Compatibility Information

Radios, Radio Modems, and Radio Base Stations

The RF310M is compatible with the RF310-series radios, the RF310B Base Station (retired), the RF500M Radio Modem, and the RF500B Base Station. If RF310M modems are used in a network containing RF500M modems or RF500B base stations then the RF310M modems must use the -TD PROM; the data loggers must also support PakBus (e.g., CR10X-PB, CR1000).

The RF310M is not compatible with our RF300-series radios, RF95A radio modems, RF315 radio modems, RF232(A) base stations, and PS232 base stations. Retired radios and radio modems (e.g., P50, RF100, RF95) are also not compatible with the RF310M.

Data Logger Considerations

Time division polling and PakBus communications can be used in the same network as long as all of the data loggers are PakBus versions.

  1. Usually, yes. Contact Campbell Scientific for a return material authorization number (RMA) and instructions for returning the unit for repair. Additional information is available on the Repair and Calibration page.

  2. No. The CR1000KD is designed specifically for use on the CS I/O port of the CR800, CR1000, and CR6 dataloggers.

  3. If the RF modem has a CS I/O connector, then it should be compatible with the CR10X without the use of an SC932A. Ensure that the RF modem’s firmware is compatible with the CR10X firmware.

Note: RF modems that are not sold by Campbell Scientific will only interface with a CR10X via an SC932A or an SC105.
